Our Staff

Michele Delzer - Is a Registered Nurse, Masters of Science in Nursing and a Certified Nurse Practitioner. She currently teaches for South Dakota State University and works as a nurse practitioner for Rapid City Regional Hospital. She also enjoys another important role as mother to 3 young girls. That makes Girls on the Run even more appealing to her because it encompasses all of her loves - including running! Teaching young girls and trying to prevent health problems along with playing fun running games is a great fit. Michele recently completed the Mickelson Trail Marathon.
Donna Savage – Is a runner with more than 20 years experience, 4 marathons, and 2 ultra-marathons under her belt.  Donna retired from the US Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. Donna co-owns and manages a local yoga studio with her husband. She is an active member in two Rapid City running organizations. She is excited to bring Girls on the Run to Pennington County!

Mickey Higgins – Is a member of the Army National Guard running team.  An avid runner for 20 years, she's completed 29 marathons and 6 half-marathons. She works full-time in the Recruiting Office in the South Dakota National Guard.

Teresa Verburg – Has been running since 1999 and is a member of The Black Hills Runners Club. She’s completed 8 marathons and 6 half-marathons. She moved to the Black Hills from Minneapolis in 1993. She is a graphic artist and co-owns a local sign company.
Emily Wheeler - Is the Wellness Director at the Rapid City YMCA and has been running for the past 3 years. She’s completed 3 half-marathons, a 30K trail run, and several 5K races. What she enjoys most about running is the fun and friendships she has made over the past few years. “I am most excited about helping the girls in Rapid City become involved in Girls on the Run to create healthy and strong young women in our community.”

Nicole Craig - Works at the Rapid City YMCA as a trainer and youth fitness leader. She ventured into running 3 years ago. She has completed 5 half-marathons, 1 marathon, and a 30 K. She is involved with Girls on the Run because she believes in what the program stands for and wants her own daughter to always be confident and self assured as well as healthy.
